The FX3 is a professional 4K UHD 35 mm full-frame camera with Exmor R™ CMOS sensor and effective 10.2 megapixels. It adds a versatile, lightweight and compact camera to Sony's professional Cinema Line. The FX3 features S-Cinetone™ cinematic colour technology, known from the VENICE and FX9, for natural, soft skin tones and a unique film look. The camera has an ISO sensitivity of ISO 80 - 102,400 (video, 80 - 12,800 for stills), which can be extended to ISO 409,600. Thus, the full-frame camera convinces with an outstanding image quality even in low-light shots. Internal recording is in 4:2:2 10 bit as XAVC, with video resolutions up to Ultra HD to 120p or Full HD to 60p available. In addition, video material with a resolution of 4,264 x 2,408 pixels can be output as 16-bit RAW via the HDMI output. For fast and professional workflows, the FX3 supports S-Log2 and S-Log3. For lightning-fast focusing, it also features hybrid autofocus and other AF variations. For professional audio, the FX3 comes with an XLR handle that offers both 3-pin XLR and TRS inputs. The camera is powered by a Li-Ion battery of NP-FZ type or with 19.5 V via the DC power input.
