The update software key DMW-SFU1 enables V-Log L recording with the Panasonic DMC-GH4 (firmware 2.4 and higher) and DC-GH5 and thus offers exceptional flexibility for video recording. The function allows the subsequent translation of dynamic and colour-poor recordings into the desired final colour space in post production.V-Log L was developed to achieve a characteristic curve similar to Cineon, a classic curve in film digitisation. The function allows a dynamic range of 12 f-stops. Due to this feature very dark scenes can be captured and it prevents fading of details in very bright environments. V-Log and V-Log L have the same characteristic curve and the translation parameters (= lookup table) can be used together with other ProAV cameras such as the Panasonic AG-DVX200.
